Deacons

The early church created the office of Deacon to make sure that the needy were not neglected amongst the church body (Acts 6).

As deacons, our hearts go out to those in need and distress: those who have suffered loss (loss of life, health, income, and connection). We minister to the everyday needs of people within the church body and seek to include volunteers from within the body in this ministry. We do this in a number of practical ways, including: meals, visitations, and budget counseling. If you would like to help us in providing practical helps, please contact us and let us know if you can help with meals, driving, or other practical skills.

If you are a member or attender in need, please contact us by email or call the church office. deacons@cpcbarn.org.

Cookies to College Students

Each year the deacons send our college students a box of homemade cookies to make the studying a bit more pleasant.  To accomplish this we need your help.

Step 1: Collect student addresses at this online form.

Step 2: Collect homemade cookies.  Bring your homemade cookies to the church kitchen on October 23rd, 2016 before noon.

Cookies will be boxed and mailed by the deacons.

Fill the Freezer

The deacons are actively involved in sympathy and service around the year.  Sometimes it is easier to serve a family in need if we have meals that can just be grabbed and delivered.

And YOU can help.

The deacons are hosting a Fill the Freezer party on October 22, 2016 from 9am to 1pm to cook and prepare meals to be frozen and ready for delivery to a new mom, a person recovering from surgery, or to help a family going through a tough t.

The deacons will prepare the menus, and create a list of ingredients.  If you would like to help cook, sign up after Sunday services in the weeks prior to the cooking party.  Maybe cooking isn't your thing but you would like to help with packaging, labeling, organizing, or the clean up process.  If you can't make it on Saturday, October 22, 2016, you can still support the effort by providing some of the ingredients.

Look for the deacon table to sign up after Sunday services.
