The Outreach Program
Food Packing Event
Covid-19 has had an impact on everyone's lives but possibly none more than those facing food insecurity. In 2018 almost 12% of all people living in CT and 16% of all CT children were food insecure. Due to the pandemic it is estimated that these numbers have doubled.
Covenant Presbyterian Church will be raising money to help our area hungry for the 3rd year in a row. But as with everything these days -- it will look a little different.
Our goal is to raise $6,000 which would make 20,000 meals. If we meet our goal we will be able to have a few volunteers come and package the meals. If we can't meet our goal we will use what is funded to purchase prepackaged meals from The Outreach Program to deliver to our area. Either way we will be working together to feed those in need.
For as little as $30 you can feed 100 people.
Simsbury Food Pantry
Food scarcity doesn’t just exist in the known places of poverty. Your neighbors and friends can find themselves in circumstances where resources are not enough to meet the need for daily nutrition. The Simsbury Food Pantry seeks to help to close the gap for our neighbors. We support the pantry with a once a month collection of canned goods, and items. Volunteers deliver the collected food once a month. Donations can be brought to Celebration Hall and left in the collection bin.
Items of regular need are:

Church Army
The Church Army has a mission of faithfully showing up for the brittle in society in ways that are practical and spiritual. You may join them on the streets of Hartford serving and loving the homeless on Saturdays, or in one of the three area nursing homes they reach each month. They show up with many practical items, including the hope we have in a God who unstoppably loves us right where we are, but the greatest gift you bring is your time and friendship. Join them for one of their many opportunities, whether it is relational or behind the scenes. Come love and be loved.

Covenant to Care for Children
The Barn has officially adopted a social worker!
Covenant to Care is an organization that provides essential goods to children in need throughout Connecticut. Partnering with them, we will do the same, right here in Simsbury. Believe it or not, there are children in this town who go to school without supplies, without proper hygiene, without a winter coat or without a good night's sleep because they are "homeless". These are things that most of us take for granted. Lacking basic needs impacts their learning. It's a distraction at the very least that competes for their attention when education should be their focus.
I hope you will join us!
If you are interested in serving by providing or sourcing the needs that are brought to our attention, please provide:
Please drop these in the closet attached to Room 4.
